[OOM: The Staff Hallway]

It had been a good three days since Mike had raked Sallie with his Glare of Doom.
Three days where he trained harder than he had in a while.
Three days where he slept a little bit less than he'd been recently.
Three days where...well, where he baked three different batches of cookies, two pans of pecan delight brownies, and carrot cake just because.

But after three days Mike couldn't stand it any longer, not the silence, not the avoidance, and certainly not the existence of all these baked goods in his house.

So he just up and went to see her.



And he brought white chocolate macadamia nut cookies with him.

Bar tells Sallie that Mike is coming - which makes Sallie nervous, since she isn't hearing Mike himself.

The apartment door is open before Mike gets there, Sallie standing just inside.





"Wèi."

[mnt_mike]

"I made cookies," he says in a pleasant enough tone. But then...It's rare for Mike to be anything other than pleasant so that's not really saying much.

"Are they full of Greek soldiers?"

[mnt_mike]

"No, but now I'm wishing they had Macedonian Nuts instead of macadamia, because that would have been funny."

Sallie steps back to let Mike into the living room, snatching a cookie from Mike's plate as he moves past her.

"To be honest I was expectin' you sooner than this."

[mnt_mike]

"Oh? Any particular reason?"

Mike does feigning ignorance well.
Very well.

Almost as well as Raph, who...let's face it, isn't really feigning it most of the time.

"Something about the way that you had a small seizure while 'tending the other day."

Sallie finds her way to sit in one of her armchairs and starts to pick at her thieved cookie.

"I'm curious to know what you overheard."

[mnt_mike]

"Heard?" he asks incredulously as he places the plate of cookies on the table before sitting himself down on the sofa.

"I don't know what you're talking about, Sallie."

Don't start, Mike. What is it?

[mnt_mike]

"Did you propose to my father?"

[realmrsreynolds]

"What? No! No, I didn't - is that what you thought you heard?"

Way to give me a rutting heart attack Mike I swear to God --

[mnt_mike]

"Oh so there wasn't talk of running away to Vegas? Because, as Bar as my witness, Sallie. If the two of you get married by someone in an Elvis costume and that someone isn't me?

There will be hell to pay."

"No, Mi -- I mean, there was talk o' just rilin' you up a tiny bit but I swear I didn't actually ask your ba to marry me! Jesus.

"We were talkin' about wanting to go on a trip, and in makin' a list I made a joke about runnin' off to Vegas."

Whether your father actually understood the reference in its entirety is a grey area.

Mike remains unconvinced, and as such continues to sit on the couch pouting like a petulant child.

And you didn't trust me to organize a Hen Night....

"Mike! Stop this. It was -- that's not happening, so it doesn't matter."

[mnt_mike]

"I'll have you know I stripped at Tonks' Hen Night."

[realmrsreynolds]

"Mike. Did you miss what I just said to you?"

Cue Sallie breaking off a piece of cookie and launching it at Mike's face.

[mnt_mike]

He shifts slightly so that the thrown cookie lands harmlessly in his mouth, and then answers while he chews.

"So you're opposed to the idea then. Of making an honest man out of my dad."

[realmrsreynolds]

"That's...that's not even what the point o' this was."

Right?

"No, I'm not opposed. And if you have to know, Splinter's the first person I've been with since Beau to make me think that. But it's not a thing that has to happen."

[mnt_mike]

He blinks at her, his expression softening considerably.

".....really?"

[realmrsreynolds]

"Really what?", getting more and more exasperated all the while.

[mnt_mike]

Mike gets up from where he's sitting, walks over to where Sallie is sitting, and just envelopes her in a gigantic hug.

Sallie is happy to respond in kind to the hug, but the confusion hasn't dissipated at all.

Can you possibly use small words to explain your head to me right now? I don't get this.

[mnt_mike]

"No, not really," he mumbles into her shoulder as he gives her an additional squeeze. Eventually though, he leans back, snags a cookie, and sits back on the sofa.

The confusion is still there, still floating around (now with a side order of frustration on top), but it'll keep for the moment.

"So...looks like we need a new topic then?"
