Mike is so excited for this moment that he's damn near vibrating.
"Let me know if the blindfold is too tight," he says knotting an opaque silk scarf over Mel's eyes.

A few days ago he'd pretty much forbidden Mel from entering what was soon to be their suite.

Mel is patience personified. She's relaxed and casual and not in the least bit worse for anything by sleeping her old suite with Steph for a few nights.

"Never stopped you before."

"And it probably won't stop me going forward," he says with a chuckle. "I just wanted to be sure this was like...official and a surprise. An official surprise."

"Ready?" he whispers a split second before he quite literally sweeps her off her feet.

"With a comfortable blindfold."

She climbs over him and settles on his shoulders, cheek against his neck.

"This better be good."

"That's the plan. If it's not though...I've got cookies in the oven that will hopefully make up for it."

With that he opens the front door and walks into the suite. The paint fumes have all but dissipated, and the smell of cookies indicates that Mike is walking through the living room, past the kitchen, and down the hall.

He stops by the second door on the right, the one next to the bathroom, but before what will be their master bedroom. His heart is beating fast as he opens the door and walks inside.

"You can take the blindfold off now, if you want."

This room that was once Anthony's is now very clearly Mel's.
It's painted to mirror exactly how her apartment in Haddyn looks. No detail has been overlooked, including the fact that the outer wall that faces the lake has been knocked half way down and replaced with glass.

Mel rips the silk inelegantly, even without much haste, and blinks at the room.

She doesn't get down from Mike. Instead she sinks deeper into the curve between his neck and shoulder.

"Poverty just like home."

She's smiling. It's clear in her voice.

"Only here the sky is blue.


...

Well, when it remembers to be anyway," he says eying the Scottish landscape.

"And the water won't killya," Mel says, approvingly.

"Why'd you go this route?"

[mnt_mike]

"It seemed appropriate, and we kind of had an overabundance of rooms. See, for instance," he says turning on his heels and heading across the hall. This room was at one point a den for a pretty princess, but now has been turned into a basement. The walls are painted with the look and feel of cinder blocks and the walls are lined with bookshelves and comic boxes.

It's almost as if one had a picture of his bedroom back in New York and recreated it from scratch.

"Sometimes in order to make a home, you have to rely on old houses for reference."

"You know that you can also make stuff up?" Mel suggests. "And that I'm gonna take some of those comic books into my room."

[mnt_mike]

"Maaaaybe. You might have to fight me for them. Which....brings me to the next room."

Mike heads right, towards the kitchen/living room, stopping in front of the door that used to be Bernard's office. The walls, ceiling, and floor of this room are painted solid white with large brightly colored spots in geometric patterns. It's as if someone has decorated the room to look like a 6 sided Twister board....which is exactly what has happened. Rock climbing hand holds and well placed pipes also line the walls and spaces in between.

"Speaking of making stuff up...."

Mel raises an eyebrow. Mike can probably feel it moving against his jawline.

"Do any of those shoot lasers?"

[mnt_mike]

He turns his head slightly, trying to get a glimpse of her expression. "That depends on what the disappointment level would be if they didn't."

"Just a Q," Mel replies, because she wants to know what they are if they don't shoot lasers. "Disappointment level null."

[mnt_mike]

He blinks at her. Why would she....?

"ApplePuff, have I never taught you the wonder and majesty of Twister?"

[slayer_fray]

"Were we naked?"

It helps to jog her memory.

[mnt_mike]

"Possibly? I mean, I learned how to play naked. But...you know, different kind of naked."

The turtle kind.

[slayer_fray]

"If you weren't naked I don't see how I'm s'posedta remember anything," Mel complains.

[mnt_mike]

He sighs, as if in awe.

"It is an impressive sight, I'll give you that."

[slayer_fray]

Talking of which... Mel's hands slide down Mike's waist to the bottom of his shirt.

"So tell me."

[mnt_mike]

He blinks and has to shake his head to remove himself from the reverie about...well, himself.

"Oh! Right! Well this is a game called Twister," he explains entering the room more fully now. "Normally it's on a plastic sheet on the floor, right? You spin the spinner and it tells you where you're supposed to put each hand and foot. Last one standing wins. I figure though...it'd be more fun to add more surfaces. So...we get this."

"Sounds kinda skitzed."

Did Mike like that shirt? Cause he'd better stop Mel now if he wants to keep it.

[mnt_mike]

Keep it? Yes. He's rather fond of this shirt.
Keep it on? Well, he's not married to the idea so he lets her do what Mel's do.

"That's pretty much the plan, yeah. I call it Ninja Twister. And this? This is the Ninja Twister room. For all our Ninja Twisting needs."

Ta-daaaa!

Then he's just lucky that she only tears off one button then, isn't he?

"Sounds like it needs oil."

[mnt_mike]

"Or pudding," he adds as he guides her hands away from the buttons of his shirt and down towards the hem. He's more than happy to lose the shirt, but the less time he spends repairing clothing is more the he can spend with Mel.

In which case, everyone will have to hope the shirt doesn't rip while being pulled off from between a bartender and a Slayer.

"One of those.

"So com'on, let's try it out."

[mnt_mike]

"I'm game if you are, though....I seem to be the only one losing clothing here. And that...that's just not right."

He turns his efforts towards her shirt.

"And I dare say that I object. OBJECT! To that sort of thing."

Mel is, as it happens, entirely OK with losing her shirt, even when it tears in the process.

"Sounds like a game that don't need clothes anyway."

[mnt_mike]

Mike takes care to ensure that any clothing tears happen around hem lines.

"Well...not standard clothing anyway. Ninja Twister is welcoming to any and everyone...over the age of consent."

"Who does, actually, consent."

[mnt_mike]

"Getting consent," he says as he begins kissing his way around any parts of her he has close at hand. "...is...the best...part...."
